The Challenge
Launched in September 2009 by The Hon Julia Gillard MP, the ClimateWatch project was initiated to increase our understanding of the effects that climate change is having on Australia's plants and animals.
The challenge was to create an interactive website to integrate with an intricate geo-spatial plant & animal research system, at the same time as providing a rich set of community management tools (registrations, forums, email communications, and member to member interaction), in under two months!
The Solution
DDSN delivered a full service digital strategy, website design and development package with the following components.
- Digital strategy
- Website development
- Online donations, e-commerce, and e-giving tools
- Real time integration with rich interactive services from Google, GAIA systems, Verisign, and others
- Content management and email campaigns - cm3 Acora CMS
- Website hosting
- Maintenance plan
The Outcome
We're pleased to report that the ClimateWatch web presence was launched with its fully interactive, secure database on time, even with time to run production tests before The Hon Julia Gillard MP's launch breakfast!
Register and log on to the ClimateWatch website to observe and record your own plant and animal sightings, which are contributed to a national geo-spatial database. Then connect with others in the ClimateWatch community to help make a real world difference to climate change. Or just learn about climate change by accessing a rich, growing, interactive, and beautifully presented database of local plant and animal data in multimedia formats.
